Richard graduated from the Bouve College of Northeastern University in Boston with a BS in Physical Therapy and membership in the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. He moved to Shelby, North Carolina in 1973 to open a physical therapy clinic. Subsequently he sold his clinic and moved to Wilmington, NC to assume the department head responsibilities at three area hospitals. In 2004 he discovered the benefits gained from a specific method of treadling. Richard obtained a patent on the method of increasing the blood flow velocity and developed the Treadwell™ System. The Treadwell™ System is a set of diagnosis specific protocols for using the patented method in combination with commonly accepted physical therapy best practices. Twelve years of system development consistently result in a better outcome with the Treadwell™ System included in therapy than would otherwise be achieved. Richard is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
